CHAPTER.8/ Flashy Suit optional
ALFRED MANNARINO
My favorite experience FROM MY YEARS AT Adweek was hosting Trivia, live on stage for Brandweek IN MIAMI.
Full-day Marketing events can be draining with so much information being delivered. To keep it fun, I wore a different, crazy suit each day. It was mix between a game show host and a DC villain. It was a lot of fun and allowed me to bring new energy to the stage.

My former professor and current mentor, Tara Bennett, has helped and inspired me most in my creative journey.
her Applied Media Aesthetics class, started me writing about pop culture.
Tara is an overall amazing human. She got me my first big photography gig shooting for SYFY.com and my first published writing job for Total Film magazine. She is one of the kindest humans on the planet and a true creative powerhouse who has written some of the best pop culture books ever.

I didn’t go to school for art or design, but as I was learning more about photography and editing, I started teaching myself how to make assets for social. These skills helped immensely with different jobs I have had over the years.
Being an Adobe Express ambassador has been SUCH a unique experience

I remember DJ Khaled walking the carpet repeating “GOD DID” over and over. I shouted out to him that I loved the title song and he just looked at me, nodded, and said “GOD DID.”
Shooting the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet for NJ.com was such a crazy experience. It was at the end of August; a scorching hot day and there were still COVID protocols in place, so it was a very stressful experience just to get into the venue. The highlight of the event was when Taylor Swift surprised everyone with her presence and I was able to get photos of her before she announced her new album.
A candid memory I have is DJ Khaled walking the carpet repeating the phrase “GOD DID” over and over. He had just released the album a few days earlier. I shouted out to him that I loved the title song that featured JAY Z. He just looked at me, nodded, and said “GOD DID.”

BEST ADVICE FROM A CREATIVE MIND
Todd Owyoung is a Nikon Ambassador and staff photographer for The Tonight Show.
His Twitter account is an invaluable asset for aspiring photographers. When he isn’t posting memes or sharing updates from his amazing job, he’s sharing great advice like this “Don't chase the style of others.
Those are worlds already known. Find the moments, the light, the colors that only you can see. There's something that's wholly you and yours alone.”
