THE BEST ADVICE SHE RECEIVED
ALWAYS KEEP LEARNING WHILE YOU BUILD YOUR CAREER.
The best advice I have received was from my illustration professor, senior year of college. Joseph Thiel, “emphasized the importance of creative discipline and the importance of learning even while you work professionally.” That advice continues to guide my thinking to this day.
LET’S FLIP BACK TO THE INTRODUCTION
Zoe Hansen is an emerging illustrator & designer skilled in the art of print. From editorial to book illustration, she transfers drafts from the ‘slushpile’ of her imagination to published works with a ‘Bay Area, independent-publishing’ style.
While working in-house at America's largest digital & print publisher, Dotdash Meredith, she has created with various brands such as Parents, Better Homes and Gardens, The Spruce, all three Verywell magazines & more.
WHAT BOOK INSPIRED YOU MOST TO BECOME AN ILLUSTRATOR?
THE graphite illustrations WITHin ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’
I was inspired by many children's book illustrators and graphic novel artists. If I had to choose one, I would say I was most inspired by the book “The Invention of Hugo Cabret” and its coarse, full-page graphite illustrations.
